Relations Between Us Foreword

Welcome to the blog, my friends! I am so excited to be able to begin blogging about what I love most. Relationships between each another, and more importantly in a family unit, is very critical in this world that is blurring the lines of stability when it comes to the family. Found in this blog will be posts based off social science studies. Subjects about communication, parenting skills, dating, finances, gender, so forth...will be discussed here. With that in mind, I will try my best to exclude my biases from each post, while rather offering insights about what the statistics and research has shown. However, since it is a blog, don't be surprised or shock if I do insert my opinions as well. It's the luck of the draw when it comes to blogs. I am open to questions, comments, and suggestions too. Post away!

A little bit about your author that you might want to know. I am a Family and Marriage Studies major with the goal of doing family therapy for the United States military. Nothing means more to me than God, man, and country! Other fun facts is that I am only 4'11", I have gone skydiving, wrestled a gator, and want to go paddle boarding/ swimming with sharks one day. Don't let those exciting things make you think I am out going, no I am actually fairly introverted and thrive of my peaceful alone time.

The only problem about a problem is your attitude about the problem. Or at least that I try to tell myself whenever there is a problem that comes into my life. Stress is a natural occurrence that will inevitably happen to all us. That is a truth that we all can rely on. Battle for Equality?

One of the major controversies in the world right now is equality between men and women. This development has been brought up throughout the last century often. One movement we can look at that has made equality more prominent is the ability for women to vote. Since then other movements of equalizing the genders have been pushing the boundaries that were once set. Woman can be lawyers, when once that wasn't common and looked down upon. Men can be nurses, which was stereotypical a women's job. These revolutions are expanding more and more each day. However, is this ideal of equality pushing a boundary that we shouldn't consider? This ideal of equality is close to me and actually has influenced my job career immensely. I will touch more on later. However, equality between men and women is a constant battle between the sexes. When in Doubt, Make Out

In light of a recent conversation I had with one of my squad members, I was discussing how my blog this week was going to be about dating. The cadet then responded to me something along the lines of: "Girls don't know how to communicate. But if you want a relationship, go for the make out." I will give my cadet friend some credit, that is exactly what the culture is like nowadays. Although, how many people want to get into a relationship knowing that the individual finds intimacy, such as kissing, as a recreational activity. This is not a healthy method of conducting dating habits. Even if you fall into this category and wouldn't mind a non-committed make out (NCMO), I invite you right now to STOP IT.
